Climate Litigation Lab
The Climate Litigation Lab is a cluster of researchers who aim to map (quasi-)judicial decisions and test new solutions, or the legal transplant of legal solutions from different jurisdictions, in relation to States’ and private companies’ legal obligations to reduce GHG emissions, and thus to mitigate and adapt to climate change. As a background, the cluster works upon the existing global stocktake of (quasi-)judicial decisions from domestic and international bodies, which can be used to assess common patterns in climate litigation, namely in terms of what strategies work better before courts, and how courts flesh out States’ and private companies’ obligations without stepping outside the traditional role of the judiciary.
